I am making this page to summarize the steps you should take If you think you have a virus/trojan or spyware infection

"HELP, I HAVE GOTTEN A VIRUS (OR I THINK I HAVE) .. .WHAT DO I DO? "

Do not panic ..
- when I was new to computers, I even "panicked" and deleted a legit file I thought was part of the infection that wasn't ... in short, I made the problem MUCH MUCH WORSE.
Realize that not all Antiviruses/Anti-spyware/Anti-Malware programs are the same as how good they are. I AM NOT ASSOCIATED WITH ANY COMPANY AND ANY REVIEWS I refer to are not affiliated to any company that produces a particular scanner. (Like a "what is the most secure web browser?- IE 8 by FAR" .. so called review of all the browser article I recently saw ... in small print there is "Sponsored by Microsoft" ... so OF COURSE Microsoft is going to say there product is best.)

My program choices -virus related

My Choice for Antiviruses (Overall) = Eset's NOD32 Antivirus/Eset System Security (Both use the same engine, but ESS has a firewall and Antispam "module" as well)

My Choice for Antivirus (Overall Runner Up) = or

This is honestly a tie ... I can not find it in myself to not recommend a great antivirus I have used FOR YEARS NOW, Kaspersky... Overall I still say Kaspersky is one of the BEST Antiviruses on the market ... Period

The Tie comes when figuring in the other choice is a 100% freeware - Avira ... honestly this is not only one the best free antiviruses, but also one of the best Antiviruses period... even beating out many shareware antiviruses

Other Mentions - I like Avira best for a free virus scanner, however, if your choose a program like Avast or AVG, it will not be as good if you ask me, but still those two are better then Mcafee and Norton BY A LONG SHOT

Malware Bytes - This is one that in the past few months, has really moved up my list of programs every Windows user should have ... This is HANDS DOWN the best anti-spyware/anti-malware scanner out and is 100% FREE

SUPER Antispyware

SUPER AntiSpyware - This is another newly discovered scanner and from what I have read, its not as good as Malware Bytes; however, its hands down the second best (to Malware Byte's ) and LIKE Malware Bytes, its 100% free
